FAQ & Help
Everything about making compliant passport, visa and ID photos with Passport Photo Guru.
How does the AI photo generation work?
You upload a normal photo or selfie. The AI replaces the background with the official color, balances the lighting, and crops to the exact composition your document requires — head size, eye position and margins. Your facial features are never altered: beautification would make the photo non-compliant.
Which documents are supported?
We have dedicated presets for the U.S. passport photo (2×2 in), U.S. visa photo (DS-160), green card / USCIS photo, China visa photo (33×48 mm, COVA-ready) and India visa photo (square, e-Visa compatible). Each preset targets that document’s official specification.
How much does it cost?
Generating and previewing your photo is free. The HD download without watermark costs $2.99, one-time, per photo — including the digital file sized for online applications and a print-ready 4×6 inch sheet with multiple copies.
How do I pay, and is it secure?
Payment is processed by Stripe, the same payment platform used by Amazon and Google. We never see or store your card details. Apple Pay and Google Pay are supported where available.
What happens to my photos? Are they private?
Photos are processed over encrypted connections, stored encrypted, and automatically deleted from our servers within 24 hours. We never use your photos for anything other than generating your ID photo, and we never share them.
What if my photo is rejected by the government?
Our presets follow the official specifications, and the free preview lets you verify the result before paying. If an application system still rejects your photo, contact us with the rejection reason and we’ll help you generate a corrected version.
What photo should I upload for best results?
A recent, front-facing photo in even light (facing a window works well), with your full head visible and hair off your face. Avoid harsh shadows, sunglasses, hats and filters. The background doesn’t matter — the AI replaces it.
Can I use my phone?
Yes — the site is designed mobile-first. You can take a photo directly with your phone camera and complete the whole flow, including payment and download, on your phone.
How do I print my photos?
Your download includes a 4×6 inch (10×15 cm) sheet with multiple copies laid out with cutting gaps. Upload it to any pharmacy or supermarket photo counter (usually under $1) and cut along the edges. Make sure the print service doesn’t “fit” or scale the image.
Do you offer refunds?
If the generated photo has a technical defect (corrupted file, wrong dimensions), we refund in full. Because you can preview the exact result before paying, we don’t refund for change of mind after download.
